'Magma' Reticulated Texture Sterling Silver Stud Earrings
A pair of 'magma' reticulated textured recycled sterling silver stud earrings. Named after how they are made to get the texture that looks like lava flowing across the silver. 'Reticulation' is a process of heating the surface of the metal to melting point and then cooling it, repeating the process multiple times until you get the desired effect. It requires a careful hand to make sure you don't melt the whole piece.
Each stud is approx 1.5g in weight and about 8mm wide. They are mounted on sterling silver studs with sterling silver butterfly earring backs, both made from recycled sterling silver as well. I use 0.8mm wide posts on my earrings, as these tend to be less likely to cause irritation in sensitive ears than wider posts.
Hallmarked by Dublin Assay Office for sterling silver 925.
Handmade by me in my studio in the Liberties, Dublin.
